ASSN produces windsocks for airports / airfields which, in accordance with ICAO recommendations, provide indications of wind direction and strength, useful for pilots both in flight and in manoeuvring areas. The windsock is illuminated to allow operation also during the night. The wind sock can be powered by a solar kit, consisting of a rechargeable battery via a photovoltaic panel; this is an optimal solution for installations in areas not served by the electricity grid because it does not require site preparation or dedicated infrastructures (it can be put into operation in a few minutes with just four fixing bolts).
The entire structure is treated to survive the most severe external (marine) environmental conditions.
The pole can be folded down to the ground for easy maintenance of the sock and of the lamps.
The ASSN Windsock is composed of the following elements:
- Folding pole in galvanized iron with polyurethane paint coating (of different heights);
- Water-repellent and colorfast nylon sock, resistant to rot and mildew (standard white/orange color);
- White sock illumination light;
- Red obstruction light;
There are two standard versions for helipads:
- On the ground
- Height of the pole: 5600 mm
- Sock length: 2400 mm
- Diameter of the Sock: 600 mm
- In elevation
- Height of the pole: 3000 mm
- Sock length: 1200 mm
- Sock diameter: 460 mm
For applications in the airport, in accordance with the customer's requests, different formats and sizes of both poles and socks are available.
